Zombies will revive after a while - Devlog 1
Today, we’re going to talk about a very interesting gameplay mechanic in Survive The Alien Tracing.
From now on, we’ll be publishing devlogs that will gradually showcase mechanics, design decisions, marketing strategies, and promotion efforts as we prepare for the final release.
As you may already know, you can add the game to your Steam wish list here.
One of the most exciting mechanics for survival game enthusiasts will be the opportunity to fight certain enemies a second time. That’s right—our game's "Zombies" won’t be simple sprites that die after the first encounter.
We put "zombies" in quotes because, in this game and its story, they aren’t exactly zombies. Most of the inhabitants of Neonix (the city where the game takes place) refer to them as "Husks" since they lack their own minds. Their behavior will resemble that of classic zombies: slow movement, monster growls—but with one key difference: they’ll revive after a while, once you’ve left the room where you defeated them.
We hope you don’t get too startled, because these enemies can come back to life at the least expected moment. The only way to prevent this from happening is by dismembering them using a powerful firearm, like the Shotgun (and others we won’t reveal just yet).
In this video, you’ll see one of them come back to life:
This adds an extra level of difficulty to our adventure and will make you reconsider whether you want to go back into previously explored rooms. Will you have enough ammo to defeat those enemies again? Will you risk it all to perhaps collect a first aid kit or antidote? Think twice.
Speaking of difficulty, the game will feature three difficulty levels. We’ll dive deeper into each one in a future devlog, but survival fans will really enjoy the hardest level.
So, stay tuned for the blog, and we’ll see you soon.
